Admission and hospital stay

• Upon admission to the hospital, the patient is obliged to provide his/her personal data with the presentation of an ID card or other identification document with a photo, in order to be able to establish his/her identity.
• Admission to the hospital ward requires medical documentation from the specialist doctor who referred the patient to a specific diagnostic or therapeutic procedure, all laboratory findings required in preoperative preparation, if necessary blood type and Rh factor, and a completed preoperative questionnaire.
• In order to ensure the safety and success of treatment, the patient is obliged to indicate any changes in health status during admission and to comply with the instructions of healthcare professionals during their stay in the hospital.
• Upon admission to hospital treatment, the patient is obliged, by filling out the form on pre-stated requirements, to provide information about a family member or other person to whom information about his health condition may be given or must be withheld.
• Upon admission to the ward, patients should bring personal hygiene items (toothbrush, toothpaste, shaving utensils, paper wipes, sanitary towels, towel, hair dryer), medicines they use regularly (in the original packaging), medical aids (glasses, hearing aids, dentures, prosthetic devices, strollers, inhaler, crutches) and clothing (pyjamas, cotton T-shirt, slippers, sweatshirt, robe).
• During admission or stay in hospital, the patient must perform the necessary hygiene procedures necessary for successful treatment or medical procedure. Certain hygiene procedures and their scope are determined by the responsible nurse or shift nurse. If the patient is unable to perform the necessary actions on their own, a nurse / technician will perform them.

Patients are forbidden to:

• go outside the hospital without the approval of the doctor in charge or the manager of the activity, i.e. the doctor on duty,
• damage buildings, inventory, equipment and devices, damage or soil floors, walls, doors, windows and furniture of the hospital,
• hold and carry weapons,
• sing, play music and create any other disturbance that may disturb or upset patients in the room or hospital building,
  give rewards, money and other items of value to health and other workers,
• smoke,
• bring and consume alcoholic beverages and drugs,
  retain food or dishes after a meal,
• receive food from outside the hospital, except in case of obtaining permission from the competent doctor,
• throw any objects or waste out the window,
• use electric heaters or kettles to prepare food or beverages in the hospital room.

From the time of waking up to the doctor’s visit (rounds), mobile patients must perform their morning hygiene (shaving, washing, bathing, combing, etc.) and allow healthcare professionals to perform all necessary actions that are part of the mandatory preparation for the doctor’s visit (rounds).

A patient who is unable to perform these actions independently will be assisted by a healthcare professional.

The first morning visit is performed by an individual doctor (doctor on duty) no later than 8:00 am.
The second morning doctor’s visit (rounds) is usually done by 10:00 am.
The third evening doctor’s visit is usually done around 9:00 pm.

Patients’ night rest may be interrupted only due to the performance of therapeutic, diagnostic or other procedures that cannot be postponed or due to preparations for such procedures.

Convey questions and all needs to the attending physician or nurse. If necessary, you will be accompanied by a hospital employee for tests.

During your stay in the hospital, please take only the medications prescribed by your attending physician.
If you have used other medicines before, tell your doctor to evaluate whether to continue treatment.

The patient’s diet, i.e. the type, quantity and quality of food, depending on the nature of the disease, is determined in each specific case by the competent doctor, taking into account the special requirements of the patient in each case, given the possibilities of the hospital and the medical condition of the patient.

Food is provided to patients in accordance with standards, norms and the HACCP system. Patients choose lunch and dinner meals from the offered daily menu.

It is forbidden to bring any food items into the hospital and to receive and consume food prepared outside the hospital, without the prior explicit permission of the competent doctor.

Daily meals, as a rule, take place according to the following schedule:

breakfast – from 8:00 am to 10:00 am,
lunch – from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm,
dinner – from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.”

Your consent is required for each medical procedure.
That is why your doctor will introduce you to all diagnostic and therapeutic procedures that are necessary to improve your health condition at the time of admission. Before signing a declaration of consent, your doctor will also inform you of the possible risks, consequences and complications.

To prevent immediate danger to your life, your doctor may perform a medical procedure without your consent, if you are currently unable to give your consent due to a medical condition.

For persons under the age of 18 or for persons deprived of their capacity, the declaration is signed by parents or guardians.

It is recommended that the patient does not bring money and other valuables to the hospital.

The patient’s belongings, which cannot be disposed of in a different way, are received by the nurse/technician in the hospital ward and deposited in the safe, with the issuance of a certificate to that effect. The hospital is not responsible for money and other valuables that the patient does not hand over for safekeeping.

Visiting patients is allowed every day from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, including on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Visits are also possible on the day of the surgery, but with prior agreement with the operator and the anaesthesiologist.
During medical interventions and rounds, visitors cannot stay in a hospital room. All necessary information about the patients’ medical condition can only be obtained from the doctor.

At the request of an official, the visitor is obliged to show his/her identity card (identification) and the items he/she takes in or out of the hospital.

For the entire duration of the visit, visitors are obliged to comply with the regulations on safety, order, peace, cleanliness, hygiene, and their presence should little as possible to disturb the conditions of patients’ stay and, in this regard, respect the orders and instructions given to them by health and other workers. During treatment in the hospital, mobile patients can perform their religious practices in the chapel on the 2nd floor of the hospital. Persons undergoing treatment in the hospital, who are unable to meet their religious needs in the hospital’s chapel, may, at their request or at the request of relatives, if they cannot decide for themselves, be allowed to receive a visit from a priest or a religious official to perform a religious practice.

A patient is discharged:

• after completing the treatment,
• in case of recovery to such an extent that further treatment can be continued at home or on an outpatient basis,
• in the event that the patient himself requests it, i.e. if the parent or guardian requests it in the case when the patient is a minor or under guardianship,
• in case of acting contrary to the doctor’s instructions,
• in case of gross or repeated violation of the regulations governing the treatment, stay and behaviour of the patient in the hospital,
• in case of referral to another health care facility,
  The statement of the patient, i.e. parent or guardian, about the premature voluntary termination of treatment is given in written form, and the voluntary termination of treatment is recorded in the medical history.

When a patient is discharged from the hospital, his belongings are returned to the patient, if he left them for storage during admission to the hospital, with an indication of the date of handover and a handwritten signature.
